2:30 pm - 4:30 pm: Moving Beyond Mediocrity
Visualize a future in which your association is running at the height of efficiency and effectiveness. In this reality, you have moved beyond the limitations of mediocrity and are leading with a Strengths-Based Strategy focused on organizational excellence. Over 50 years of research from the Gallup Organization reveals that the most effective organizations don’t try to “fix” employees, but instead allow them to leverage their strengths and personalize their approach. This workshop is designed to help you explore your natural strengths and leverage your possibilities for success. Conference registration includes a code for the online StrengthFinders Signature Strength Assessment. By completing this assessment prior to the conference, Pari will be able to help you create specific strategies to be more effective, efficient, and discover organizational excellence! Be sure to watch for the email with your assessment code beginning one month before the conference.

9:00 am - 9:55 am: Strategic Social Media Management: Posting with the End in Mind   - PRINT PRESENTATION SLIDES
The average American uses three social platforms. As social media managers--or leaders of organizations using social media to manage events, brand our organizations, and market our products/services--we need to connect on those social media platforms. But as social media managers, how many hours have you spent researching your target audience’s social media preferences and habits? Have you studied best practices for social media use? Or are you doing what most of us do--if we’re honest--and simply throwing some content up against online walls to see what sticks? If that’s your strategy, you’re not alone. The good news is you’ll walk away from this one-hour presentation feeling more informed, better prepared, and armed with a true strategic plan for managing social media moving forward.
Presenter: Bethany Wallace

10:00 am - 10:55 am: Those Tricky Triangles  - PRINT PRESENTATION SLIDES
Tricky Triangles refer to a particularly destructive pattern of communication where open, honest and direct communication is replaced with indirect, behind the back communication. You will see just how prolific this communication style is and how destructive such practices can be. You’ll also learn the three specific roles people play in fostering these patterns and the motives behind each player’s role. Exercises are used to improve the “triangle spotting” skills. We will offer some specific methods for stopping triangular communication and provide you with a chance to practice the skills with real-world examples and tenacious talkers.
Presenter: C.W. Miller

11:00 am - 12:00 pm: 2019 Legislative Expectations
The top leadership positions in the legislature are the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House. ASAE is honored to present both incoming leaders, Senator Jim Hendren (R – Gravette) as President pro tempore elect and Representative Matthew Shepherd (R – El Dorado) Speaker-Designate, to lead an interactive panel discussion that will provide insight into what they believe will be the hottest topics for the 2019 legislative session. In addition, both distinguished leaders will inform ASAE of best practices for advocacy efforts during legislative sessions, rule-making processes, and task force meetings.
